2-15-1739: The Board of Speech-Language Pathologists & Audiologists

  • Is formed as part of the Department of Labor and Industry

  • Consists of 5 members who:
    o Are appointed by the governor, with the consent of the senate
    o Have been residents of MT for at least 1 year
    o Have been engaged in rendering services to the public, teaching, or performing research in the field of speech-language pathology or audiology for at least 5 years

  • Two members are SLPs

  • Two members are Audiologists

  • One member is a consumer of speech-language pathology or audiology services

  • All appointments are for a 3 year term, with no person eligible to serve more than two full consecutive terms

    37-15-101. Purpose.
    The legislature declares it to be a policy of this state that in order to safeguard the public health, safety, and welfare and to protect the public from being misled by incompetent, unscrupulous, and unauthorized persons and to protect the public from unprofessional conduct by qualified speech-language pathologists and audiologists and to help ensure the availability of the highest possible quality speech-language pathology and audiology services to the people of this state with communicative disorders, it is necessary to provide regulatory authority over persons offering speech-language pathology or audiology services to the public.
